2/10/09 Cape of Good Hope and Penguins!!

Tuesday, February 10
I went on a day trip down to the Cape of Good Hope which is the most south western point of the African continent. Beautiful does not accurately describe this place...wow...it was amazing!!
We started off the day following the Atlantic seaboard past Clifton and Camps Bay to the fishing area of Hout Bay. We took a cruise to Duiker Island to see the Cape Fur Seals in their natural habitat.
We continued to Chapman's Peak to Simon's Town to see a colony of rare jackass penguins at Boulders Beach. It was tremendously windy!
We had a picnic at the visitors center at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and then went mountain biking and hiking through the reserve. We biked to the sign and then hiked the cliffs near the lighthouse. It was still very windy but very pretty!!
